Poorly Watched Girls: A Conversation with Suzanne Bocanegra and Hal Foster

Suzanne Bocanegra and noted art critic and historian Hal Foster will discuss the themes and processes that carry through Bocanegra’s work, focusing on her new exhibition at The Fabric Workshop and Museum, Poorly Watched Girls. Bocanegra often collaborates with innovative performers and visual artists, taking inspiration from historical events and her own personal memories, to create multidisciplinary works of art that defy categorization. In Poorly Watched Girls, she combines installation, video, and performance to explore the ways that popular entertainment has theatricalized women’s moments of emotional, spiritual, and romantic trouble.
